Optimizing Transit Speed For A Cleaner Sea
Published 16 Sep 2025
Fuel consumption increases when marine vessels transit at higher speeds. At lower speeds suitable for operations within the port, tugs can reduce fuel consumption, translating to lower carbon emissions.
By combining real-time information and crew deployment, PSA Marine correlates key data such as transit speed, machinery status and fuel consumption together with the deployment of marine crew onboard our tugs, and tailor specific interventions to reduce fuel consumption and lower carbon emissions.
It also allows our frontline marine crew, particularly the tug masters, to play a direct and important role in PSA Marine’s sustainability efforts.
