Exploring Biofuel Energy

The trial application of B30 biodiesel on one of PSA Marine’s harbour launches provided us a first-hand experience and deeper appreciation on the implementation of biofuels for internal combustion engines.

Starting with a shore test phase followed by a sea-trial phase, the trial was completed successfully, proving that the use of biodiesel is one of the various pathways to reduce overall fleet emissions.

Dual Fuel Dual Possibilities

As part of PSA Marine’s continuous commitment to a greener marine environment, two dual fuel LNG harbour tugs, PSA Aspen and PSA Oak, were built and deployed for operations in 2019 and 2020. The PSA Marine dual fuel LNG harbour tugs are equipped to operate in either diesel or LNG mode. These vessels contribute towards significant reductions in particulate matter, SOx-, NOx-, CO2- emissions and noise.

Reimagining Work Through Remote Surveys

In collaboration with Bureau Veritas Marine Singapore, PSA Marine carried out an inaugural remote marine survey for PSA Aspen, one of PSA Marine’s dual fuel LNG harbour tug. This marks the first time a harbour tug registered under the Singapore Registry of Ships has undergone a fully accredited annual survey conducted remotely, without a surveyor physically present onboard the vessel. This was followed next by PSA Oak, PSA Marine’s other dual fuel LNG harbour tug, completing its annual survey in the same fashion.
