Ship Masters Instructions on Taking A Pilot |

| 1. | Ship Masters are requested to have the " Vessel checklist for Piloted movements" and the "Appendix B – Master/Pilot Exchange of Essential Information on Boarding" duly filled and signed, ready for handover to the pilot as part of the Pilot / Master Exchange procedure |
| 2. | Pilot Ladders are to be rigged according to Reg V/17 (Pilot Transfer Arrangements) of SOLAS 74, or Regulation 17 of Chapter V of the Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) Regulations (Cap 179, Reg. 11). Due regard shall be paid to the IMO standard described in document A.275(VII) and A.426(XI) on 20th November 1973 and 15th November 1979 respectively.
In general, the bottom rung of the pilot ladder should 1 metre above the waterline. The ladder should be rigged on the "lee side" of the vessel as she approaches the pilot boarding ground. PSA Marine (Pte) Ltd reserves the right to withdraw the pilot and charge for the service ordered should an unsatisfactory pilot ladder is provided and/or if the cooperation from the vessel is not forthcoming to the extent that the safety of the pilot is compromised. |
